Living Areas
Books
- When building shelves for books, plan extra shelf space
then you will need.
- Stacking books vertically and horizontally will create
interest.
Photos
- Before nailing a nail into your wall, cut out the shape
and size of your frames that you will be hanging and tape them
with a light hold tape to the wall where you want to display
them. Rearrange them until you are satisfied.
- To measure where the nail hole will go on a wire-supported
frame, pull the wire to the center of the frame and measure,
and then measure distance on pattern.
- Framed images should be hung at eye level or no higher
then 12” above the furniture below.
- Decorative molding from a hardware store and be made into
a narrow shelf for resting pictures on.
- Photos are best stored in acid free material in a dry,
dark place where little change in humidity and temperature
will change.
Storage
- Decorative storage boxes can be created using a shoebox.
Measure the outer edges and cut fabric or paper 2” longer then
needed. Glue together. For a tab to pull box open, fold a
strong piece of ribbon in half and glue on inside of lid. Old
books or maps can be used to create a unique touch.
Candles
- If you love to burn candles, save only the burnable ones.
Don’t keep anything that has almost run out of wax or a wick.
Keep the unused candles in a box in a cool place.
